Bulova Watches

In 1875 a 23-year old Czech immigrant by the name of Joseph Bulova opened a small jewelry shop in New York City. By 1911 Bulova was manufacturing boudoir and desk clocks and pocketwatches, and when WWI broke out and the convenience of the wristwatch was realized, Bulova predicted a new fashion market and released the first full line of men's jeweled wristwatches in 1919. America's first radio spot commercials were broadcast nationally in 1926 and the jingle went: "At the tone, it's 8 PM, B-U-L-O-V-A Bulova watch time." No small wonder that two years later Bulova introduced the world's first clock radio. Bulova was again ahead of the times in 1931, when they were aired as the first TV commercial: A simple picture of a clock and a map of the U.S. preceded a Brooklyn Dodgers baseball game on July 1, 1941 and proclaimed, "America runs on Bulova time." Today Bulova remains a U.S. owned company and a recognized and trusted name for Americans. No doubt Bulova's inventiveness will continue to keep them ahead of the times.
