Luminox, which means “light night” in Latin joins a shield logo of black, white, and red—the colors of night, light, and the Swiss flag on the dials of all their watches. The Luminox self-powered illumination system employs tiny self-powered micro gas lights (borosilicate glass capsules) in the hands, hour markers, and when necessary, bezels of their watches. Luminox watches need no push button or external light source to "charge" the paint on the dial or hands for glowing. The entirely Swiss movement will illuminate your time continuously for over twenty-five years. In 1994, Luminox launched their initial Navy SEAL dive watch for use on night missions, and in 1999 they developed Air Force watches to be worn by F-117 Nighthawk Stealth pilots. Today Luminox can be found in more than 30 nations. |
